This portfolio project is centered around the revitalization of an underutilized urban space under the Xi’an Taibai Road Overpass. The primary aim is to transform this neglected area into a vibrant and functional public space that accommodates various activities and social interactions. The project thoroughly analyzes the site conditions, including traffic patterns, existing student activities, and urban voids caused by the overpass structure. It proposes a series of strategic interventions to activate the space, such as converting gray spaces into lively areas through the introduction of greenery, seating, and play zones, as well as integrating the underpass into the daily life of nearby residents. The design also focuses on the sequential experience of users throughout the day, enhancing the site’s usability and aesthetic appeal through careful planning and the addition of engaging features like colorful pathways, interactive installations, and versatile public spaces. The renderings and diagrams effectively communicate the transformative potential of the design, showcasing a dynamic and inclusive environment that addresses the social and spatial challenges of the site.
